OPEN THREAD 20200310

Basically, all legal free speech is allowed. We will assist the authorities in dealing with illegal speech. You are each other’s moderators. Have fun. And don’t forget to MAGA at nuclear levels.

After going through the elements, we now enjoy a sequence of RANDOM somewhat pseudo-random topics that will be thrown out for investigation and commentary on each open thread. At some point, in a way something like composite numbers, I will accidentally hit a second occurrence of one of them – that’s just normal.

Have fun!

    1. I saw your message, and a newer one. Looks like the post and messages are gone. I’m OK with removal (it’s Daughn’s thread), and presuming that Daughn did it, but I want to get confirmation in order to ensure that we don’t have “secret admins” here (errrr, there).

      1. I saw your posted comments. Thought no change. Handled it a different way so now mute point. Humbled my pride and confessed to misleading posts. done. neutralized a problem I created through absolute foolishness, irresponsibility, misplaced “creativity” and overeagerness to help.

I had been watching/reading too much from China, Iran and Italy from some sources that may have been not true as some have now been de-platformed. Got to involved. Became concerned that some of our online treepers might be taking the virus too lightly and became panicked after reading to much fear mongering (or true reports?) from overseas.

Created a realistic scenario based on so many stories from other countries that supposedly had happened…too creative and wrong and dishonest. Too much info (misinfo for “narrative” purposes? was I sucked by misinfo?) that I was overwhelmed and lost the plot.

My embarrassment and humiliation. Owned up. Done and done. Not worth misleading even with good intentions as it bothered my conscience. Over and my credibility with it. 😦 I learned some important lessons.

Delete this mess and/or that mess or leave it all. At this point, I made my bed…

        1. OK – I’m fine with all that. Playing the “Q game” is difficult and fraught with moral dilemmas, so you won’t get any negative judgments here. I think you’ve done the right thing to bring yourself back to what you feel is your moral center. Generally speaking, it’s rough to keep things as fuzzy as needed to pass an important message without giving up OTHER information, without leaning on fiction. Being misleading without lying is not only hard – it is arguably not possible at all.

I’m just not even sure I can FIND those posts now. They appear to be gone without a trace. Maybe I looked in the wrong place. I will double-check to make sure. I think Daughn got them, but I don’t know.

        2. OK – I was able to find it and remove it. All the attached replies appear to be gone, too.

Personally, I think no harm was done. But I’ll leave this little conversation here, because now is a great time to start a practice that I think is very worthwhile – live your life like a lab notebook, where only PEN is allowed – no pencil. If something is deleted, it is crossed out legibly, so that people can see what was deleted.

“Live your life in pen. Even if it’s in code. A reminder that nothing can be erased – only forgiven. And that nothing – even code – is hidden from God.” Accepting this is very liberating. It takes one of Satan’s strongest tools away – the false belief that we can hide from the Spirit of Truth.

          1. I learned many lessons … some of which I thought I already knew
I get your position on deletions/living life in pen so I addressed it publicly as needed/appropriate

        3. One of my best friends has a sterling piece of advice that she hands out frequently: “Be gentle with yourself.”

In another format (a Vonnegut cantrip), think to yourself, “one day, you’ll be over this………how about today?”
