PS – today – the 22nd day of November, is DAY 16.
The 16th element is SULFUR. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfur
Sulfur has FOUR stable isotopes – 32, 33, 34 and 36.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotopes_of_sulfur
Sulfur, like silicon, is produced in exploding stars, both massive and white dwarfs.
So, first on today’s menu of WEIRD VIDEOS – this charming demonstration that NERDS CAN HAVE FUN, but it doesn’t always MAKE SENSE TO NORMIES.
Now – did you know that CHEWBACCA smells like SULFUR? YES!
OK – let’s look at some REAL SULFUR!
Some interesting properties of sulfur in elemental form.
How about sulfur in gardening?
Sulfur is an extremely important part of biochemistry. BUUUUUUUT to be honest, it’s kind of the TAIL END.
Finally, take a look at this sulfur compound which has helped MITIGATE, STOP, and even REVERSE arthritis in many dogs, including ours.
Is it safe? Apparently the FDA seems to think so. But CAVEAT EMPTOR.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylsulfonylmethane
Like any drug or supplement, MSM is not tolerated by all dogs, and can have side effects.
https://www.vetinfo.com/msm-supplement-sides-effects-in-dogs.html
Have a HEALTHY day with just the right amount of sulfur!
Our well was very shallow in Florida and the water smelled like rotten eggs,I was the only one who would bring it from the spicket.
My mom used to leave the water pitcher set out over night and the smell was gone.
Sulfur, what a treasure lol.

Now we have a spring behind our place in California and it all runs down into a 3000 gallon tank,we drink from the overflow and irrigate with the rest.
I dont miss sulfur water one bit.
Night and God bless you Wolf.

I really liked the properties of elemental sulfur video.
Gunpowder is roughly 75% saltpeter, 15% charcoal, and 10% sulfur (now largely superseded by “smokeless powder” or nitrocellulose — which is 3x as powerful by weight and produces much less soot). The sulfur and charcoal are used as fuels while the saltpeter works as an oxidizer. The recipe is very forgiving and may be mixed by handfuls while being pursued around Vasquez Rocks by humanoid sentient lizards.

Incidentally, for those who aren’t local, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasquez_Rocks have their own wikipedia page that is just https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_productions_using_the_Vasquez_Rocks_as_a_filming_location — it’s very geologically distinct and not too far from Hollywood.
It’s fun to visit and wander around.
Of course, if you’re going there because of Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, you should also visit the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tillman_Water_Reclamation_Plant — which has been both “Bill and Ted University” and “Starfleet Academy”…..and was largely built with my dad’s supervision.
Back in the Vietnam era, the story was that Mechanical Engineers built bombs and Civil Engineers built targets…..my dad is both.

Back when I was a denizen of California, VR was one of my hangouts. So was The Falls campground on Soledad Canyon Road or Bouquet Canyon Road (I can never remember which was which) in the Natl Forest.
Those were the days. I miss the aroma of canyon yucca flowers, a fragrance unlike any other. To me, the most beautiful scent on earth. As far as I know, they only grow in the canyons between Saugus and Palmdale alongside of Hwy 14.

I’m not sure about the campground, but I used to live in bouquet canyon — and the major pathways in my backyard are bouquet canyon stone.
Yucca are found in many places that people aren’t. I suspect that they might be found in a lot of places near that given area. One thing to know about yucca is its amazing symbiosis with the yucca moth — but I’ll let an article detail that: https://homeguides.sfgate.com/symbiosis-yucca-moths-yucca-plant-trees-74408.html .

Sulfur!
I’ve mentioned previously that silicon can’t form ring molecules while carbon can, and that’s one reason silicon is less versatile than carbon, and is unlikely to be a viable basis for life. Just look, for instance, at the structure of A, C, G and T in DNA–two rings apiece!)
That yellow sulfur in the main post is almost entirely composed of sulfur molecules, where there are eight sulfur atoms in a ring!
But this doesn’t help sulfur at all. Those rings cannot bond to anything else at all because sulfur only has two bonds. Each sulfur in the ring has used up all of its bonds just being in the ring, unlike carbon which can link to one or two other things besides its neighbors in the ring. (Oftentimes, carbon will use two bonds for one neighbor, and one bond for the other, making a flat ring and one extra bond per carbon (a benzene ring); otherwise, it tends to zig-zag in and out of the plane of the paper you draw the diagram on.)
Elemental sulfur sometimes gets deposited around active volcanic vents and the like; in the third world people go into the cloud of hydrogen sulfide gas and harvest it. They risk asphyxiation if there isn’t enough oxygen, but even if there is–the hydrogen sulfide reacts with the water in their lung tissues to form sulfuric acid. Nasty, nasty job.
